The Saturday Tuition Scheme is for:

  • children who have fallen behind in reading, writing and spelling
  • whose parents cannot afford private tuition fees
  • from state schools, and usually of primary school age

Places are available now!

The scheme runs on Saturday mornings during the school term. Lessons start at 9.00, 10.10 and 11.20am.

Lessons last one hour and are taken by teachers who have specialist training. Children are taught in pairs to keep the cost down for parents. All children are screened to pair them appropriately.

Lessons are held at Oxford Community School, Glanville Road, Cowley, Oxford, and the Unicorn School, Abingdon between 9am and 12 noon every Saturday during term time. Children may join at any time if a vacancy exists.

You and your child are very welcome to visit us one Saturday morning during term time to help you decide if our scheme is suitable.

Fees: £12.00 per pupil per lesson payable to the teacher, termly in advance (e.g. £72.00 for a six-week term). A few grants are available from the Oxfordshire Dyslexia Association for those on income support or in special circumstances to meet part of the fees.

If you would like your child to be screened with a view to joining the Saturday Tuition Scheme, please complete the application form (click here for form and print out from pdf) and send it to: Oxfordshire Dyslexia Association, Oxford Community School, Glanville Road, Oxford OX4 2AU.

We would encourage you to inform your child’s school that you are applying to receive special tuition.
